Founded upon owner Brian Slagel’s enduring drive to find great bands and get their music out to as many people as possible, since 1982 Metal Blade has brought wave after wave of powerful, innovative, and often genre-defining music to the ever-hungry metal masses. It is this ethos that has seen Metal Blade build up a stunning and diverse catalogue, weather the various storms facing any independent label, and in an age of declining record sales boast the most successful years of its existence as it strides into its fourth decade.

Editorial Reviews

2016 debut full length from legendary guitarists Hank Shermann and Michael Denner from MERCYFUL Fate. Denner and Shermann have created a new classic with Masters Of Evil. These songs were crafted with the Mercyful Fate worldwide legion of fans at the forefront of their collective minds. From the first riff to the last wail, one cannot help but feel the magic newly recaptured once again. The band, which is simply called Denner / Shermann, calls into service a formidable group of allies who were capable of helping realize this menagerie of malice, was a task carefully orchestrated by these metal mad scientists. Shermann first called upon Marc Grabowski (Demonica) to handle the bass guitar, followed by the only drummer that made sense for many obvious aspects, the one known as Snowy Shaw (Mercyful Fate, King Diamond, Dream Evil)! Many voices were considered, but fate lead them to Sean Peck (Cage and Death Dealer). He was not only a fan but had the versatile vocal skills to make the new songs come to life like their fans would expect.

Hank and Michael. The only thing that could make this better would be King!

Up there with some of the best albums of 2016 so far ! Recreates classic metal sound. My friend Sean Peck did an amazing job on the vocals. Stylistically very close to King Diamond vocals, but not trying to be a carbon copy. He does match King's tone at key times, but it isn't overdone. Of course the guitar work is phenomenal with classically based solos and riffs true to Mercyful Fate form. Pretty much any fan of classic MF is going to love this, unless they are expecting Sean to be a Carbon Copy of King Diamond. Buy this Album, now !!!!!

At first pass, I was a bit disappointed in this full-length album vs. the earlier proof-of-concept EP, Satan's Tomb, that Denner / Shermann released last year. After letting it settle in via a couple of straight-through listens, I have to say that I love this album in ALL aspects. The riffs, the vocals and the goofy lyrics, I'll take it all. C'mon, it's metal, of course the lyrics are GOOFY. I'm an older metal head straight out of the early eighties and while I musically appreciated MF and KD, I never grew to like Kim's falsetto voice. OTOH, give me Sean Peck on this outing and I get the Halford/Dickinson-esque vocals I crave from my teen years and the classic, bad-ass riffs that Denner / Shermann can crank out with a modern, stylistic update. Call me a fan without question.

Not Mercyful Fate. Some shining moments, but too often the lackluster production and non-King-Diamond vocals (but sometimes straining to be) detract from what could have been great.
